RDA Festival Rules:

  • Appropriate dress is required for each type of activity during the Festival.  Dress requirements must be adhered to for all classes.  Cover-ups must be worn over dance clothes outside of the studio.  Dressy attire is suitable for all concerts.
  • Dancers should include adequate funds in their budgets for Friday - Sunday meals if you choose to not eat the provided Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, snacks between classes and performances, tips and other necessities and services. 
  • Respectful behavior must be demonstrated at all times. A director or chaperone from any member company shall have the right to demand that this rule be observed.
  • Dancers should be in bed by a reasonable time, or as specified by Festival curfews, or by the individual company.  Curfews will be observed.
  • When leaving the hotel, theatre, or any class building, dancers must not be alone.  Dancers must secure permission from their chaperones regarding departures from regular schedules. 
  • Dancers and any festival participant must wear their badges to all classes and Festival functions.
  • Dancers must be on time for all classes and activities planned for them unless personally excused by their director or chaperone.  
  • No dancer may drink alcoholic beverages if he/she is under the age of 21. There shall be no alcoholic beverages in any dancer’s room
  • The use of drugs by any Festival participant will not be tolerated.
  • Dancers and any Festival participants must be aware of theatre etiquette and conduct themselves appropriately.
  • During the performance it is inappropriate to leave your seat before the final curtain call.
  • No food is permitted in the theatre or backstage at any time.
  • Dancers must be out of make-up and costume in the theatre during the performances.
  • The use of any recording device and/or photographic equipment is strictly prohibited in the theatre.
  • Enthusiastic applause in encouraged as well as an occasional well-deserved “Bravo!” Inappropriate shouting, screaming, or whistling will not be tolerated. Remember:  Dance is a performing art and deserves respect from its audience. This performance is not a sporting event or a competition.
  • Be courteous and considerate at all times.  Remember:  You are acting as a representative and ambassador for the art of dance and your company.
